The project began in 2010 as a creative collaboration between Cloud Gate 2 and choreographer Yi Huang. Based on the idea of extension of the body, it considers how a musician’s performing body may be transformed into a dancing body. A series of methods have been tested to record and interpret the dancers’ movements, such as using video cameras to capture their motions, or orchestrating laser sensors in space as activating interfaces, etc. The version for this exhibition presents a mechanical violin, one of the four installations in the performance, while the audience, taking place of the dancers, have the opportunity to experience interaction with music through their own movements.
