The Ten Gibbons is part of the collection of the National Museum of History and is the work of Pu Hsin-Yu (1896~1963) , a famous master of ink painting from modern China. The main mode of creative expression used in this interactive work is the enlargement of the original work with a projector and projecting it on a wall. The idea was then to allow participant to drag a banana prop across the projection and guide the apes back to their correct positions in the work. Through the use of infrared sensor technology, a specially designed banana prop, 3D ape animation, and an interactive program, we hope to allow participants to become immersed in the painting by playing this game – and through this immersion, to have the opportunity to carefully observe the details of the ink painting it self – enriching their understanding of traditional paintings.
