Fog-screen interactive installation / Dimensions variable / 2008 / Ya-lun TAO, Fu-jui WANG; Animation Design: BULKY Animation Studio; Innovation Application of Digital Life Project (Director: Xiaoniu Su-chu HSU)

The blueprint for this animation work is a landscape painting. A large ultrasonic water curtain has been mounted to the top of a dark rectangular chamber. A set of tracks and a motor-driven automated control system enables the water curtain to move slowly to-and-fro. The dark chamber represents a intangible misty landscape with variable depth, while the large movable water curtain installation acts as an extender and compressor of the painted scene. The shifts in perceptual depth that is created by the movement of the water curtain creates a three-dimensional animated landscape painting, and draws the viewer into the depicted scene and move freely among the mountains and waters in the painting.
