Low sound helps people relax, which is the main appeal of this installation. Music is one way to therapeutically relieve stress. In both the East and the West, there has been a considerable amount of research done on music therapy. In the East, there are medical principles related to the five traditional sounds of the pentatonic scale (Gong, Shang, Jue, Zhi, and Yi) which correspond to the five viscera organs (liver, heart, spleen, lung, kidney). In the West, research has proven that music therapy is four to eight times faster than traditional therapy. The design of this installation is based on the principle of stress relief – employing a low frequency sound design. When someone presses on different areas of the sphere, it produces different sounds and lights which have a stress relieving effect on the person.
