超旅程未來媒體藝術節

維歐拉對佛教中談及死亡乃投胎轉世之必經過程的教義深感興趣，受此啟發進而拍攝了兩名演出者亦或浸滲於大水中，或被火焰吞噬的影像。在作品所呈現的慢速世界中，觀者除了可以感受到水與火的破壞力與殘暴的特質，也能體悟其形變與淨化的力量。維歐拉的作品以低限的數位效果著稱，這場表演的實際演出為時甚短，但最終呈現出的錄像作品則有九分鐘長，讓觀者有足夠的時間沉浸在水流、光影、人體的美感中。

Inspired by his interest in the Buddhist idea of death as a passage to rebirth, Viola has filmed actors drenched in water and consumed by fire. In Viola’s slow motion world the viewer senses not only the destructive and violent power of the elements but their transformative and cathartic power as well. Viola is known for using a minimum of digital effects. The real time for this performance is only moments but the finished video is nine minutes long, allowing viewers time to savor the beauty of the moving water, light, and figures.
